MANGANESE

In 2020, Zimbabwe exported $137k in Manganese Ore, making it the 63rd largest exporter of Manganese Ore in the world. At the same year, Manganese Ore was the 227th most exported product in Zimbabwe.

CHROMITE

Chromite mining on the Great Dyke of Zimbabwe is an integral part of the local and international metallurgical industry. Zimbabwe hosts 21% (930 Mt) of the world chromite reserve base and ranks fifth in both chromite production and world chromite ferro-alloy exports. The Great Dyke is one of the most remarkable geological features known. Over five hundred kilometres long and rarely more than ten wide, it traverses the Archean Shield of Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) from north to south. Within layered ultrabasic rocks are several seams of chromite. These are strikingly persistent and together constitute the world’s largest resource of that Mineral.

GOLD

There are over 4 000 recorded gold deposits, nearly all of them located on ancient workings. The country remains under-explored to discover deposits away from these ancient workings. More than 90% of gold deposits in Zimbabwe are associated with greenstone belts which are some of the richest in the world.
